Designed for Prefabrication

Prefabrication continues to be the growing trend across the country. Pre-assembling ductwork in a controlled environment prior to shipping leads to better quality, just in time fabrication, less inventory on the job site, and a significant reduction in labor costs. In fact, duct prefabrication is becoming essential for modern HVAC jobs, from data centers to battery plants, pharmaceuticals, and more. The innovative Fabriduct NEO Full Coil Line from Iowa Precision was designed with this trend in mind.

Automated Smart Coil Handling

The Fabriduct® NEO was designed to eliminate lengthy gauge changeovers — redefining how coil lines handle multiple materials and gauges. With automated smart coil handling, the machine automatically decoils and recoils with precision control from the correct coil station as needed in ONE MINUTE compared to the 10-15 minutes typical of other coil lines. The system can be configured for up to twelve (12) stations accommodating up to five (5) coil widths with a gauge capacity from 16 to 26 gauge (14 gauge optional). Additionally, precision leading coil edge detection sets the reference position for all subsequent operations eliminating the need for crop cuts and maximizing material yield. Lastly, the 4 roll straightener automatically adjusts to the material thickness to remove coil set for a perfectly flat sheet — ensuring the Pittsburgh locks or Snaplocks line up perfectly during assembly.

Auto-Control Driven Multi-Gauge Operation

The Fabriduct® NEO also features an integrated material memory system that provides automatic recall of straightening and beading parameters per gauge thickness. Additionally, with the coil width chosen per coil station, the automated infeed guides move into position to measure the torque of the material for precise, real-time auto-positioning of downstream equipment such as straightener rolls, beading rolls, L&T notchers, Pittsburgh Seam, Dual Head Cleat Roller, and Dual Head T25A TDC and/or T25B TDF Rollformers based on material gauge and width. When combined with the Automated Smart Coil Handing, this automatic multigauge operation allows you to schedule and run production by the job with multiple gauges (as opposed to having to batch by gauge) with no manual intervention for the ultimate in production precision, flexibility, and productivity.

Full-Width In-Line Plasma Cutting System

The Iowa Precision Fabriduct NEO and Pro-Fabriduct  are the only HVAC coil lines in the industry with a true fullwidth “X” “Y” cutting bed In-Line Plasma Cutting System. Combined with the ability to directly download job data from leading CAM platforms like Autodesk, Trimble, PractiCAM, Shop Data Systems, and more, these coild lines enable the cutting of access doors, taps, and more in round, square, and oval for duct prefabrication right on the line.

Next Generation Controls for Hands-Free Operation

The Fabriduct® NEO sets a new standard in HVAC duct manufacturing — every stage in the process is software and auto-control driven for a completely hands-free operation. The Dynamic Control System — the latest generation from B&R Industrial Automation — moves beyond traditional Windows-based interfaces to a robust, Linux-based platform. This system acts as the digital nerve center for your entire production line, offering:

Universal Software Acceptance: Eliminate manual data entry by directly downloading job data from leading CAM modeling platforms, including Autodesk, Trimble, PractiCAM, Shop Data Systems, and others.

Modern Remote Diagnostics: Features built-in Site Manager technology for secure, real-time remote troubleshooting and system monitoring.

Onboard Machine Insight: Access detailed performance data, fault alerts, and maintenance indicators directly at the machine interface — no external connection required — for faster troubleshooting and reduced downtime.

Simulation Capabilities: Test and refine production runs digitally before feeding material to ensure maximum efficiency and minimal waste.

Advanced User Interface: Available in iPad and HMI interface with a dedicated pedestal mount control featuring touchscreen, mouse, and keyboard for intuitive operation.

Full-Width Longitudinal Seam Production:

What’s the Difference and Why Does it Matter?

Most HVAC duct leakage occurs at the notch hole that is produced at the top and bottom of a duct section at the transverse duct connection to the fan or the unit. The Iowa Precision Fabriduct NEO and Pro-Fabriduct Full Coil Line have undergone a combination of modifications to the processor, transfer system and hydraulic servo wrap brake that allow it to produce ProDuct™ — a finished duct with a full-engagement longitudinal seam which substantially reduces the chance of leakage in the corners of the duct’s transverse joint. This patented full-width longitudinal seam production (U.S. Patent No.12,565,947) can substantially reduce the chance of leakage with a greater deliverable thereby producing greater output with less input creating less chance of human error. The full-width longitudinal seam production is applicable to our 5’ line, with 4’ or 5’ stock, and can be either Large-Pittsburgh and Small-Pittsburgh or Large-Pittsburgh and Snaplock.

The notch profile is altered to leave more material on the male side of the notch, allowing the male seam to extend to the edge of the duct. Dual stepper motor-controlled notching die positioning eliminates an operator from needing to adjust the notchers for coil width or notch type; precise positioning is handled through the control system. The 90˚ male lock is formed after the roll forming of the connecting flange, avoiding the full length male flange from being deformed as it passes through the roll former. The servo wrap brake is altered to include locating pins to accurately locate the part parallel to the bending beam. Positioning of the leading raw edge gives very accurate and precise locations for the subsequent bends. Computer controlled leaf tooling gags have been added allowing the brake to bend the full engagement male lock seam without deformation.

And with the Fabriduct NEO, the integrated cold sealant application system results in finished duct work that meets SMACNA Class A and DIN Class D air leakage rating.
